Slowly but Surely -PJ Proby
|
Elvis & Ben Weisman |
Before his solo success in GT.Britain in the mid 60's PJ Proby used to demo records for Elvis along with others like BB King, Johnny Cash and Little Richard in the early 60's. This is one of two of Elvis demos on You Tube - the other is Fun in Acapulco. Slowly but Surely was recorded by Elvis is Nashville in May 1963 for an album that was never released until 1991 - then known as For the Asking in Europe and the Lost Tapes in the States. The tracks were issued haphazardly during the 60's as Soundtrack album fillers or A or B sides of singles. Slowly but Surely was a filler on the Fun in Acapulco album in 1964 and featured in the 1965 film Tickle Me. It was Written by Sid Wayne and Ben Weisman. (and here an interview with Ben Weisman who has written many songs for Elvis.
